Documentation can be time-consuming and stressful, but it doesn't have to be!

We’ve all been there: it’s 7 pm and we haven’t started writing our first note of the day.

  • We spend 10 minutes just trying to remember each session
  • We aren’t sure exactly what’s the most important thing, so we include everything.
  • We get stressed out over how long it’s taking and so we put it off to the next day.

We end up spending 10-20 minutes on each note, which is WAY TOO LONG!

During this on-demand webinar, we’ll share proven strategies to streamline your note-writing process without sacrificing quality. Learn what to include and what to forget, the best way to utilize templates, and how to be quick while also being efficient.

Have you ever read a note that sounded like this?

During the session, Alex participated in various fine motor activities, including writing exercises and cutting practice. He demonstrated difficulty maintaining a proper pencil grip and had trouble with cutting along a straight line. Alex also displayed signs of sensory overload when a loud noise occurred in the therapy room, covering his ears and becoming visibly agitated. Based on today’s session, it is apparent that Alex is experiencing challenges with fine motor skills and sensory processing. These difficulties may be impacting his performance in school and causing emotional distress.

We’ve all written a note like this, but I think we can do better!

I can pinpoint a few things I’d like to change to make this note more specific without adding more sentences, show therapist skill, and be more concise.

Think about it:
  • How would you rate this on a scale of 1-5?
  • What would you change?

During this webinar, participants will:

  • Learn what to include and what to avoid in your notes
  • Review of SOAP notes
  • Discover concise phrases to use in our notes
  • Learn to pick the most important things to include in our documentation
  • View the presenter editing daily notes samples and write notes after viewing two sample treatment sessions

What's included:

  • A 1-hour on-demand webinar
  • 4 months of access to the webinar and resources
  • Opportunity to submit questions for feedback
  • Certificate of Completion for 1 hour
    • This will be provided after the completion of the quiz and survey
    • It will count for 1.25 PDUs for NBCOT
    • .1 CEU. Please check with your state as requirements may differ.
  • Resources
    • Daily note template
    • Tracking Sheet
    • 2 additional note samples and edits
    • 5 Tips for documentation

Frequently Asked Questions

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers.

YES! Even if you don’t have your own practice now, this will help prepare you for when you do! You’ll be able to download and use the resources in your practice as soon as you do!

Yes! But let’s dive into that for a second.

A CEU and a PDU are both units towards your license/certification, but they are measured differently.

1 contact hour = 1 PDU or .1 CEU

1 contact hour with an assessment = 1.25 PDUs for NBCOT

1 PDU = .1 CEUs

These units can typically be applied to your state license and NBCOT. If you are not an OT please check your professional requirements.

This course will provide you 4.375 PDUs for NBCOT after completion of the program and quiz. That is the equivalent of .35 CEUS.

NBCOT no longer requires AOTA pre-approval for the max amount of PDUs per hour, they just require an assessment!

I do not offer refunds since all information and resources are available immediately after purchase.

Both! The editable templates included will support all environments.

You get lifetime access to this webinar. That means there’s no rush to complete it in the next 2 months. Take your time.

Let's hear what other's have to say:

Katie put together a fantastic webinar – I learned so much in just 60 minutes! Serves as a good reminder on how to use documentation terminology effectively as well as examples on how to take wordy notes and shorten them. I especially appreciated the short video clips to practice analyzing/documenting with built in feedback afterward.

OTP

This was such a helpful and practical webinar! We learn better when we get to practice the theory, so I really appreciated the opportunity to watch notes being edited, and then watch short videos of sessions so that we could have a go at writing our own notes using the strategies we had just been taught. I highly recommend this to clinicians at any point in their career, especially to those who are feeling overwhelmed by the constant battle of timely documentation.

OTP

I have learned a lot from this course. I find it very helpful that Katie included some tips and provided some leading questions that helped exercise your clinical judgement as a therapist. I found it very affirming when she said that as therapists, we have different brains when we’re taking down notes, so we’ve got to do what works best for us and not every style works for the same student. Lastly, I appreciate how you also have the option to replay the webinar for a period of time, when you want to practice writing notes yourself, you can always go back for reference to try it out!
