Hi, I'm Katie
I’ve been a pediatric Occupational Therapist for the last 9 years! I was a little late to the grad school game. I got my master’s at 30 from NYU, which you can read more about here.
I’ve since spent my OT career working in Early Intervention, Schools, and Outpatient Clinics. EI taught me how to educate and collaborate with the caregiver and family for the best possible changes. Working in the schools allowed me to explore the transition from EI to the IEP. The Ayres Sensory Integration Clinic brought everything together. You can not possibly understand the entire picture without understanding how the sensory systems work together and impact function.
Exploring different settings has allowed me to learn so many different perspectives on how OTs can support their clients. I’ve been lucky enough to learn from some really great therapists over the years, and it’s taught me a lot about what it takes to be a good Occupational Therapist.
Since 2021, I’ve focused on therapist mentorship and education through The Well-Balanced OT. I now offer a Group Mentorship program for pediatric therapists, 1:1 sessions, webinars, and parent support sessions.

How can I support you?
And a few of my favorite resources...
Asking a picky eater to take a bite can create lots of anxiety and dysregulation. When we are in this stressed state, we have a really hard time-consuming food because our body is focused on safety.
This idea book provides you, your children, and your clients so many fun ideas on how to play with a variety of fruits, veggies, and proteins!
Is your child struggling to manage their emotions and big feelings? Do you wish you knew more about self-regulation tools and strategies, sensory processing, and how to help them be more organized, regulated, and engaged? After reading this guide written by an Occupational Therapist, you’ll feel prepared to handle more behaviors and be more confident in your ability to regulate your child.
I created An OT’s Guide to Regulation in the Classroom to support teachers, mental health staff, therapists, and other OTs. A student can not learn if they are dysregulated. This guide begins by teaching you how to identify when and why a student is dysregulated and how to suggest specific regulation strategies and tools to support an optimal state for learning.
