Well-Balanced OTs Group Mentorship

Scroll down for more info on the next cohort!

I am lucky to have had good mentors in my first few years as a new therapist.

They were dedicated to training the staff because they wanted to ensure that we were providing quality care and services to their clients. It wasn’t all about productivity and caseload minimums.

It was about developing skills, confidence, and further education.

Lack of mentorship is one of the biggest complaints of therapists. There’s no one to learn from, observe, and grow with.  We’ve all felt that moment where we don’t know something and there’s no one to help.

A good mentor is imperative, but not always provided in all settings. Some companies are more focused on productivity than they are on making their therapists better. This shocks me! The more confident and educated a therapist is,  the more the caregiver is going to recommend their service!

Other companies may have constraints in time and accessibility to other therapists, placing mentorship on the back burner when it should be front and center.

I want to help you become that exceptional therapist:

▫️ The one who plays detective to figure out the “why”.

▫️ The one who feels confident when talking to parents and other professionals.

▫️ The one who understands how the sensory systems work together and how it really does impact everything we do.

▫️ The one who knows that connection is your key to compliance.

It's why I started Well-Balanced OTs, a 12-week mentorship program for OTPs

Katie was a fantastic instructor and this mentorship program was exactly what I needed. It was amazing being able to collaborate with fellow pediatric OTs and being able to learn topics that were only brushed on in school. I found the resources to be amazing and I still have parents comment to me how much they love them. They have made my practice easier and I feel more confident as a therapist now as I have the tools to be able to support families. I highly recommend this program!!

Live group sessions will occur on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 PM EST

Enrollment begins January 2nd for those on the waitlist!

This mentorship group exceeded my expectations. Katie is so knowledgeable about all the topics discussed and provides so many great treatment ideas and strategies that you can implement immediately. It was great to be able to get feedback on specific clients and bounce ideas off of other therapists too. I was feeling a little bit lost not getting any mentorship at work, but after 12 weeks of this group, I feel more confident as a practitioner thanks to Katie and all the other therapists. Would definitely recommend this course to any new graduates!

This program was exactly what I needed as the only pediatric OT at my clinic! It allowed me to collaborate with other OTs and also get more resources/knowledge in the areas most used in pediatrics. I feel way more confident in my practice now and have a community to go to with questions as I am growing. Thanks!

Who is this mentorship group best for?

OTs or OTAS who:

  • want to feel more confident, prepared, and skilled
  • are working in schools, clinics, or early intervention
  • want to transition to pediatrics from a different practice area
  • want to expand their knowledge and practical skills
  • want a safe community of like-minded neurodiversity-affirming therapists
  • want to learn more or review our specialty topic areas (see above)
Being a fairly new practitioner with limited fieldwork experiences in pediatrics, this program provided a foundation for me to feel comfortable enough to gain the confidence to promote my ongoing growth in this very rewarding profession. Katie provides a welcoming and safe place to explore how we can work through the challenges faced in practice, in collaboration with other OTs, through humor, tears, and curiosity. So very grateful for Katie's courses that have helped to ignite the spark that reminds me why I love this profession so much. And most of all I love how she works from a strengths-based and neurodiversity-affirming approach for us to value children as they are.

Here's a deeper look at some of the resources included in the Well-Balanced OT's Group Mentoring

At the end of the 12 weeks, you should feel more knowledgable, more confident with treatment planning, better equipped to talk to caregivers, and less stressed!

Take it from these past members...

Occupational Therapist
"Katie was an excellent mentor! She helped me feel more confident in my ability to problem solve and evaluate a variety of children on my caseload. I learned how to effectively communicate tough conversations with parents. In addition when I was in a rut for treatment ideas or had difficulty working towards children’s goals, she helped me gain a fresh perspective with treatment ideas to make the just right challenge that is also fun!"

This program was exactly what I needed. To have weekly discussion and resource building/learning on topics, new resources and treatment ideas, community with like minded OTs; and Katie who was such an excellent educator. Would recommend to any new or (new pediatric) occupational therapists looking to grow their confidence by growing their skill sets, knowledge, and resource base for how to keep growing.

I had a wonderful experience learning from Katie and collaborating with other OTs through this mentorship program! I really appreciated the videos and resources shared by Katie and have already implemented several things learned with my clients and their families. I would highly recommend this course to any new or seasoned OT who is looking for support and wanting to increase confidence and improve clinical reasoning skills.

"Katie has been an amazing support over the last few months. As a new grad and the only OT at my job, having Katie to ask questions to has really helped me feel more reassured that I’m on the right track with my clients. She has a lot of knowledge on different topics in pediatric OT and the resources she provides are super helpful and time-saving. I would 100% recommend Katie as a mentor to anyone who is seeking extra support in their OT practice!"
Occupational Therapist
I love the opportunity to learn and collaborate. My job is very isolating and I think there is a huge value to working with other OT's. I think this is a great opportunity to gain collaboration for those who might be working as a solo OT.
Occupational Therapist
The group mentoring exceeded all my expectations. I gained confidence and clinical skills that I am able to use with many of my patients. I loved how you didn't "fluff" any topic and everything was very applicable to real life practice (both schools and clinic). It was amazing and I'm so thankful to have learned from you.

Katie's mentoring program was invaluable- I literally cannot say enough about it. Her weekly topics were ones that I feel were not touched upon in school and areas that I always wanted to learn more about. I knew nothing about feeding and oral motor but now feel excited to treat my first client in this area. Katie (The Well-Balanced OT) included recommended courses for each topic as well if we wanted to delve further into the topic. I have already used her free resources and my kids and parents love them! I also worked with Katie outside of the mentoring class regarding private business advice and I couldn’t have asked for someone better to learn from. She is personable and professional, and I look forward to working with her in the future! Whether you have been a therapist for 1 year or 30 years, there is something to gain from The Well-Balanced OT’s mentoring program and I recommend it HIGHLY!

Katie’s group mentoring program has been wonderful! Even though I’ve been a pediatric OT for many years, the support and collaboration with Katie and the other group members has been so helpful since I’m the only OT at my school and it’s great to learn from and bounce ideas off of each other. I can’t say enough positive things about Katie and the program resources – she is thoughtful, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and really cares about helping other therapists grow and learn and her resources are creative and fun. I highly recommend Katie’s group mentoring program to all therapists, but especially new/newer grads and those therapists wanting to transition to pediatrics. I wish Katie was around when I first started working in peds!
Occupational Therapist
Katie, this program is so amazing and really exceeded my expectations! Since starting work, it's been a journey of accruing my own resources to learn more and grow. Your program is literally a gift that all therapists should have access to!! The abundance of material/info shared, the weekly calls, and your own wisdom added all together make it such an incredible offering. This program has been great! It has been super beneficial to my knowledge and feeling more confident.
Occupational Therapist
This program was very helpful! Being only two years out of school, I feel much more confident working as a solo pediatric therapist. I also appreciate that we get to keep access to all the materials. This will be so helpful as I continue to grow my caseload and evaluate more kiddo's. I also know that I can reach out to my other class participants, Katie, and the other cohorts if I have questions in the future.

Participating in this mentorship program was the best thing I could have done for myself early on in my professional career! We covered topics that we didn’t spend a lot of time on in school, and it was so refreshing to learn more about them in a way that was easily digestible. 10/10 recommend!!!!

Please leave a testimonial/review of the program: I have wanted OT mentorship since the start of my career, and I am happy to have found it with Katie. She has a wide base of knowledge in many areas of pediatric practice. She offered an introduction to areas, I had been feeling, were not covered well in my graduate program and fieldwork experiences, and shared resources to lead me towards learning more on these topics. Katie created a safe space to share questions, modeling her inclusive problem-solving approach. Katie's child-led and strengths-based approach to therapy is aligned with my own efforts at the same. The group learning platform was great for me!

Group mentoring from Katie was such an incredible learning experience. I was an adult hospital based OT with zero pediatric experience, and this program really helped mentor and support me in the transition to pediatric school based OT. The program is in depth and covers topics your school may not go over! I still reach out and receive 1:1 support for caseload management and business questions. Katie is a great teacher, and fosters your inner confidence as an OTP!

I found myself eager to attend our weekly meetings. The support from Katie and the other therapists was awesome. I say just go for it, and spend the money for the 12 week course because it is worth it!

I really enjoyed the program! It was so helpful and I learned so much that I didn’t learn in OT school or fieldwork! Katie is so knowledgeable and helpful and the resources for parents were phenomenal. I was able to ask questions about all of the concerns that I have had in these last 12 weeks. I highly recommend this program and love the benefit of having had a free 1:1 session with Katie as well as the opportunity to join the collaborative group afterwards! This is perfect for any OT who doesn’t have a mentor on site or readily available at their job!

Yup! This program is for both OTs and OTAs. We have two session topics on evaluations, and even if you are not directly completing them, it’s still really helpful to understand what the OT is looking at and how it translates to therapy.

Yes, you can earn up to 20 PDUs for NBCOT when you complete the program. This is equivalent to 2.0 CEUs.

At the end of the program, you can also get a certificate of completion with the hours accrued (20 hours) to submit to state licensing boards (please check yours for approval). You can find state requirements for renewal here

You do not! Each live session will be recorded and sent to you shortly after the meeting. You’ll have access to these sessions and resources for a lifetime.

I offer two meeting times a week. If you are unable to attend your scheduled time, you are welcome to join us the other day.

You can join too! We’ve had therapists from Canada, South Africa, Tawain, and Australia join us. Each of the pre-recorded lessons have closed captions if needed. If you are unable to make the live sessions, you can also take advantage of the community board to connect with the other OTs and ask questions!

You will have access to the weekly topic information for a lifetime. All of the material is available for download!

You will be asked to download the Activity Guides and TPT resources by the end of the 12 weeks.

I’d love that! Once you graduate, you can join our WBOT COLLABORATIVE.

We meet at least 3x a month for case-studies, collab sessions, and advanced learning topics (webinars).

PDU will be earned towards NBCOT.

You’ll continue to have access to all my resources, including anything new I make and 20% off Well-Balanced OT webinars.

The cost is $47 a month.

Unfortunately at this time, I do not offer refunds once the program has begun.  If you decide after the program begins that you are unable to join in live sessions (and you want to), I do offer you the opportunity to participate in a future cohort when the time allows.

With the program, you’ll get 2, 30 minute 1:1 sessions!  If you’d like to schedule any additional sessions they are 30% off.

If you’d like more info or have any questions, I’m happy to get on a quick 15-minute call to see if we’d be the right fit.
